Grade 8 Quarter 3 Constructing Perpendicular Bisector
Constructing Perpendicular Bisector Using Compass and Straight Edge
In this lesson, I will be constructing a perpendicular bisector using a compass and straight edge. Everything will be explained in Filipino.
What is a perpendicular bisector?
A perpendicular bisector is a line that meets a given line segment at a right angle and cuts the given line segment into two equal halves.
Here are the steps in constructing a perpendicular bisector of a line segment AB using a compass and a straight edge.
Step 1: Place the compass at point A. Adjust the compass to just over half of AB. Draw an arc.
Step 2: Place the compass at point B. Adjust the compass to just over half of AB. Draw an arc.
Step 3: Get the intersection of the two arcs.
Step 4: Connect the two points. You now have the perpendicular bisector of segment AB.
