3 Top Reasons
why you need to enroll in a
Review Class
to pass the
Civil Service Exam
Did you know that over the years, only 11% of the total number of applicants pass the exam? This means that ONLY ONE out of 10 successfully make it? Although it may be true that you can do self-study, here are the reasons why enrolling in a review class can be beneficial.
Reason 1 Enrolling in a class result in DISCIPLINE.
Let’s face it. Studying at the end of a hard day’s work is no easy task. Assuming that you wake up at 5 am, prepare for one hour, endure two agonizing hours along EDSA to go to your office, work for eight hours and spend another two hours to get home, you no longer have the strength at the end of the day. There are also dishes to be done, clothes to be washed, homework that kids need help with and the list just goes on and on. If you still can study after doing all of those tasks, good for you. But for most people, they just do not have the capacity to do it anymore.
Some might say that they can study on their own on weekends. You can also do that but there are a lot of distractions when we stay at home. There’s TV, Facebook, kids demanding attention, or you probably just want to sleep all day and take that much needed rest. Enrolling in a review class will really make you allot time for studying without distraction because you have nothing to do there EXCEPT to study. Enrolling in a class similar to those who enroll in a gym so that they get that discipline to exercise. They already paid for it and they don’t want to waste that money if they don’t go. Same thing goes for you. If you already paid for the review class, you will be forced to attend the classes since you don’t want to waste your money, do you?
Reason 2 You will have proper GUIDANCE.
You may opt to buy review materials from the bookstore. But sometimes, these books provide only the answers but not the detailed explanation as to how to solve the problems. Although some books have these explanation, some of the readers have difficulty comprehending what is written on the material. A review class will give you an opportunity to ask your instructor and clarify the things that you understand. You can also benefit from the tips and shortcuts that the instructor will give on the review sessions.
Reason 3 The exam is very COMPETITIVE.
As was mentioned earlier, only 11% of the applicants pass the exam. No one really knows as to why they have this trend. Some claim that there are only limited positions for regular positions so CSC limits the passers. Whether this is true or not, we do not really know. What this means for you is that you should be in the top 11% of the takers. This is similar to those who take the entrance exams for universities. For example, if a certain university has only 2000 slots available for their freshmen, they will rank the results from 1 – 2000. If you do not belong in that list, then you do not qualify. You really have to study and work hard for you to get to the top of the list.
Finding a good review center will be extremely beneficial for if you will be taking the civil service exam. It will instill discipline, provide guidance and equip you with the right skills that you will be need to succeed.
